Eclipse Sketch Project

Helping Designers Come Up with Sketching Practice Ideas
Sketching is often regarded as a significant skill for Industrial Designers, but it takes practice to learn to draw quickly and effectively. During my degree, my partner and I noticed that one of the biggest hurdles to practicing sketching was simply knowing what to sketch. It is a challenge to come up with something to draw, and it is equally as easy to get in the habit of drawing the same things over and over. To address this, we designed, developed, and deployed an app that generates unique sketching ideas that has been used by designers across the world.

To see some of the amazing work people have done with the app, check out the Instagram:

The concept of the app is simple: you will be provided a product, descriptor, and a context, and you must sketch something to fit all three parts of the prompt.

The final product was built in Unity, but to test out the concept we built a simple prototype with HTML and distributed it to people to try. Below is an interactive version of the prototype.
